15 years ago the first BRAX products for the car audio market
were built with comprehensive know-how and an enormous
pool of experience from the home audio sector. Since then
Power Stabilizers and amplifiers have become a reference for
exquisit sound and quality characteristics everywhere in the
world.
It’s only logical that the new Matrix speakers combine all features
that meet the criteria for a typical BRAX-product: The
reproduction of pure sound uncompromisingly converted with
state-of-the-art technology and best materials - for the unique
and impressingly authentic enjoyment of music in your car.

BRAX MATRIX
The basket
The Matrix 6.1 mid/bass operates in a powder coated die-cast
Euro-DIN aluminium basket. With its 167 mm diameter and a
mounting depth of just 64 mm it fits in all vehicles with DIN
original speaker placement. The set includes special safety
screws that avoid twisting the basket during mounting.
For the control of the voice coil temperature even under great
loads, the basket is provided with a venting system. To keep
the connectors in a steady position, a specially designed part
forms a unit with the basket.
The terminals
The Matrix 6.1 is supplied with 24 carat gold-plated connectors
with fine threads. Aspecial feature is the +/- mark cut into
the screw head. It allows tight fastening with a Torx screw driver.
The fastening of the connectors to the basket is short-circuit-
proof and twisting free due to special plastic sleeves.
They prevent the connectors from being wrenched when connecting
the cables.
The driver
The powerful 90 mm magnet system with its lathed pole plate
is vented by 6 holes. They are protected by black coated aluminium
meshes edged by a solid stainless steel ring. In order
to protect the magnet system it is embedded in a rubber ring.
The solid stainless steel phase plug of the Matrix 6.1PP ensures
additional cooling of the 37 mm voice coil.
A10 mm drilling in the bottom plate ensures sufficient cooling
of the Matrix 6.1.
For linearization of impedance an OFC copper head is installed
on the T-Yoke (anchor).
The diaphragm
The aluminiumoxid coated paper cone is extremely light and
stiff. The coating ensures additional damping and a very
rough surface of the diaphragm. Maximum excursion and
improved efficiency are achieved by a special light and extremely
flexible rubber surround.
Supportring set incl. grille
Solid stainless steel mounting ring or grille support ring,
mountable from front or reverse, to ensure absolutely planar
mounting in uneven installation areas.
BRAX Ma t r i x Midrange 2.1
The housing
The Matrix midrange operates in a two-part lathed solid stainless
steel housing with high mass and extraordinary cooling
efficiency. The front plate with excellent radiation characteristics
holds the protection grille for the dome. The mesh material
with extremely high airflow allows optimum protection
without limitation of radiation. The high mass of the solid
steel housing guarantees extraordinary sound quality.
Hidden fastening is no problem thanks to a thread on the
back part of the housing. The hand lathed cable terminals are
aligned with the ABS bottom plate and are suitable for loudspeaker
cables up to 2,5 mm2. To eliminate standing sonic
waves BRAX Matrix Plugs are inserted into the enclosure.
The driver
The 54 mm voice coil of the 2.1 is driven by a drilled neodyme
magnet system with 10 holes (3 mm diameter) in the air gap
and a 24 mm center drilling. They do not only ensure the
coupling of the tweeter to the volume, they also eliminate heat.
The coupled, 100% pure lamb’s wool dampened volume of the
Matrix 2.1 achieves a resonance frequency of 490 Hz.
The diaphragm
The silk dome of the 2.1 is another speciality of the Matrix
system. It’s production involves a silk woven mat that is
immersed in a bath of special resin and after that compressed
in a heat press. In order to airproof and damp the ultra-thin,
mesh like and transparent dome it is coated with acronal on
both sides.

The housing
The Matrix 1.1 operates in a two-part lathed solid stainless
steel housing. It eliminates 350 times more heat than a conventional
tweeter housing. The front plate with excellent radiation
characteristics holds the protection grille for the dome.
The mesh material with extremely high airflow allows optimum
protection without limitation of radiation.
Hidden fastening is no problem thanks to a thread on the
back part of the housing. The hand lathed cable terminals are
aligned with the ABS bottom plate and are suitable for loudspeaker
cables up to 2,5 mm2. To eliminate standing sonic

The 28 mm voice coil of the 1.1 is driven by a drilled N40 neodyme
magnet system with 8 holes (3 mm diameter ). They do
not only ensure the coupling of the tweeter to the volume,
they also eliminate heat.
The coupled, 100% pure lamb’s wool dampened volume of the
Matrix 1.1 achieves a resonance frequency of 750 Hz.
The diaphragm

Frequency Crossovers
To meet the outstanding performance of the Matrix speakers, the
3- and 2-way frequency crossovers are equipped with finest components
such as high quality capacitors, air-core coils and Metox
resistors. Solid, gold-plated jumpers allow an easy adjustment of
the speakers to individual auditory habits, vehicle acoustics and
installations in five user-oriented fine graded steps. The jumpers
also give you the choice of 4- or 2-ohms mode which allows the
operation of one or two woofers per channel. In this way double
bass systems can be installed in door boards without any difficulty.
